Snowstorm Midwest

Snowstorm Midwest, There is some indication that a major storm with wind and snow may crank up and affect the northern Plains later this weekend.

We wanted to give you a heads-up on a potential, major storm situation from portions of Nebraska, the Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin and the plains of Montana.

This area has not experienced many storms with strong winds, heavy snow and blowing snow this winter.

Even in areas farther south, over part of the central Plains, a relatively smaller amount of snow, combined with strong winds could result in poor visibility.

A storm still over the northern Pacific Ocean will roll along and move onshore in the Pacific Northwest Friday night.

The storm is likely to bring another round of heavy snow and wind to the Cascades and northern Rockies spanning Friday night and Saturday. However, the storm may slow down and strengthen while traveling northeastward from the central High Plains to the Upper Midwest Sunday into Monday.

If the storm remains relatively weak, then a relatively small stripe of snow and wind is in store. However, if the storm strengthens to its full potential, then substantial drifting snow and major travel disruptions are possible over a large area.

The exact path of the storm would determine which areas will be affected the most.
