Man Smoking Pot FlightMan Smoking Pot Flight, The power of the medical marijuana card does not extend to the skies, apparently. That’s what Adam Blumenkranz discovered when he reportedly lighted a marijuana pipe on a Jet Blue flight from LAX to Newark, New Jersey.

Blumenkranz, 43, of Los Angeles, reportedly ducked into a lavatory before lighting the pipe, authorities said.

Police met Blumenkranz at a terminal gate in New Jersey after the flight landed, and he was taken into custody.

He is charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and drug paraphernalia, authorities said.

Blumenkranz told police that he did not believe he had done anything wrong because he has a California medical marijuana card. Smoking – tobacco or otherwise – has been banned on any U.S.-based flight since 1990.

Snoop Dog ArrestedSnoop Dog Arrested, Rapper Snoop Dogg was arrested over the weekend after border control agents found what they said was a small amount of marijuana on his tour bus. The singer and record producer, 40, was stopped at the same Sierra Blanca, Texas, checkpoint on Saturday where country singer Willie Nelson was arrested for marijuana possession in 2010, customs officials said. The site is about 90 miles southeast of El Paso.

Bill Brooks, a spokesman for U.S. Customs and Border Protection, said agents conducted a routine inspection of the rapper’s tour bus on at the U.S.- Mexico border checkpoint east of El Paso and thought they smelled marijuana.

“When our officers did a further inspection, they discovered a small amount of marijuana and turned him over to the Hudspeth County sheriff,” Brooks said.

A spokesman for the sheriff’s office said Snoop Dogg “freely admitted” the pot belonged to him. He said a drug-sniffing dog found a prescription bottle containing rolled marijuana joints and two other containers with marijuana.

The rapper was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia, released and given a January 20 court date, authorities said. If convicted, he faces 180 days in jail.

Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, has been arrested and convicted numerous times in the last 10 years for possession of drugs ranging from marijuana to cocaine, and weapons offenses.

In 2008, Snoop Dogg and Willie Nelson collaborated on the song and music video “My Medicine,” a thinly veiled homage to marijuana. Both artists have made their appreciation of pot an important part of their public personas.

Snoop Dogg Arrested

Snoop Dogg ArrestedSnoop Dogg Arrested, Snoop Dogg was arrested for possession of marijuana after a sniffer dog found out his stash in Texas on Saturday.  The rapper has courted controversy in recent weeks after apparently smoking a joint on stage and recording a music video where he sits next to a small mountain of marijuana.

But it seems the 40-year-old rapstar’s obsession with the drug has came back to haunt him, as he has been arrested and charged after sniffer dog sniffed out his stash in his tour bus.

Snoop was arrested in Sierra Blanca, Texas after his transport was stopped at a Border Patrol checkpoint at 3 A.M. on Saturday.

“During a routine check of U.S. citizenship the inspecting Border Patrol agent detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the inside of the vehicle and requested the driver to pull into the secondary inspection lane for further inspection,” the Daily Mail quoted a Sheriff’s Office spokesman as saying.

“The agent requested all subjects to exit the bus so that a canine working the checkpoint could conduct an inspection of the vehicle.

“Upon entering the bus the canine alerted to a trashcan located at the rear of the vehicle where a red prescription bottle containing rolled marijuana cigarettes were located.

“A further search produced two other containers containing marijuana weighing in all total of 0.130 lbs.’

According to the lawmen, the rap legend did not try to pin the blame on someone else.

“Calvin C. Broadus a.k.a. Snoop Dogg freely admitted that the marijuana belonged to him and he was placed under arrest by U.S. Border Patrol agents and detained,” the spokesman said.

“At approximately 4:00am Hudspeth County Sheriff’s Office was contacted and upon arrival, Mr. Broadus was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia,” he added.

He was released after being told that he has to make a court appearance on or before Jan 20, 2012.
