Sleeping Bear Dunes MichiganSleeping Bear Dunes Michigan, We won! Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is the most beautiful place in America. Yes, Good Morning America has just announced what we already knew to be true.

Sleeping Bear Dunes Our beloved swept the # 1 spot in the competition heating online voting in the series from 10 of the most impressive in the country for the title the most beautiful place in America. Of course, we all knew that already, but nice to bask in some kind of national recognition.

So who did our hot mama bear to beat the number one? Check out this list of all the stars: Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Newport, Rhode Island, Point Reyes, California, Aspen, Sedona, Arizona, Destin, Florida, Asheville, North Carolina, Lanikai Beach, Hawaii, Grand Teton National Park

This is an exciting behind the scenes of how Sleeping Bear was first on Good Morning America contest for the most beautiful place in America:

In Traverse Magazine Northern Michigan and the fun began MyNorth.com Wednesday, July 28, when Good Morning America producer Sabrina Parise called our marketing director Rachel North, to ask if they would be available to help you learn Sleeping Bear, AISS-EX- needed to gather footage for a segment of Sleeping Bear Dunes. From Good Morning America had begun soliciting nominations online for a more beautiful place in the Competition of America, which had been dragged by the number of nominations for this place that none of them had heard of … (Awakening in New York!)

“Oh yes,” said Rachel, we can help.

The next day Rachel and I met in the restaurant Blu Sabrina in Sleeping Bear Bay, where Randy Chamberlain served lunch on the deck that was able to, well, a producer for ABC. Click here to read about it.

After lunch, Sabrina and peeling for a visit of the rise in sleep and unity Bear Dune Pierce average. Very fun to watch their amazement as the landscape evolved. By Sabrina Sleeping Bear Dune Climb on the camera for me, something I’m used? Inot … but I’m glad to do it for my bear. Sabrina the tour guide the next day was Tom Ulrich, Assistant Supervisor of Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore, which rival the bear in his own performance in the camera.

The following week, we were thrilled to see the segment that the reporter had met with Josh Elliott, îwho was very kind about Sleeping Bear, but obviously (being a native Californian) by pulling Point Reyes. The segment includes scenes video tour of our own, in Sleeping Bear Dunes, shot over six weeks last summer and fall. MyNorth images used in the Good Morning America story to capture the grace, the amplitude and splendor of Sleeping Bear Dunes includes photos of Pierce Road overlook planting, a bird in flight Boekeloo beach, a dock-old Glen Arbor beautiful photos of people enjoying Sleeping Bear Dunes.

In Traverse, we all set just happy with a place in the Top 10 when, on Friday, August 12, my phone rang. It was Alberto Orso; another producer of Good Morning America called to say that Sleeping Bear was one of the finalists, one of the main purposes, as in a tie for number one. Yippee! I hung up and called Rachel and began the buzz of the media of the wheels to get the vote out, îfrom The Homestead and the Republic of cherry all the way to the governor’s office with Mario Batali along Twitter. We turned on a dime and e-mailed 27,000 readers Traverse MyNorth.com magazine and they responded enthusiastically. This is fast becoming “one of Michigan Wins!”

Saturday afternoon I was sitting in the chair in the salon Glen Lake, coat, hair dripping and all, when Sabrina sent me a message: “Can we talk” Yes dripping hair and all. The top-secret news: Sleeping Bear had won. But Mom had to be the word. The great revelation would come Wednesday, August 17. Until then, the story had to be that we were still in the fight, ABC was preparing? Ibut more footage.

On Monday, August 15, Sabrina went to the disk in my house in Glen Arbor. She was only 24 hours to shoot more footage for the segment of winning. I jumped in her car with her to lead a kind of painting outdoors in the farm Thoreson in the lake, sponsored by the Art Association in Glen Arbor. We split up several hours later; Ayesha was even some secret thing that could not share. Just before saying goodbye to Sabrina told me this: “Our lions and tigers are doing now is the time for our bear to hit out of the park!” I do not think she thought she was as smart as me.

Which brings me at 8 am on Wednesday, August 17, and a spot of coffee flavored with emotion at the Tavern in Glen Arbor Art (in the heart of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore) to sleep Fans Bear have been convened to look and see if your Bear to take home.
