Slavery In The United States

Slavery In The United States, MTV’s 24-hour college network, mtvU, announced Tuesday that it launched several on-air and digital programs as part of its new “mtvU Against Our Will” campaign, according to a news release.

The programs were created to encourage students to fight modern-day slavery in the United States.

According to the campaign’s website, the name “reflects the simple fact that this violation of our most basic human rights is against the will of the college students mobilizing around the issue, against our will as a free society and against the will of those trapped in modern-day slavery.”

The campaign includes an initiative called the “Against Our Will Challenge,” which asks students to submit ideas for ending slavery, and will provide a winning team of students with $10,000 to bring their ideas to life.

The campaign partners with organizations “Free the Slaves,” “Girls Educational and Mentoring Services” and “Polaris Project” to call on students to end modern-day slavery.

Students interested in entering the challenge can do so by visiting the campaign’s website, AgainstOurWill.org.

The site also offers educational videos and facts about human trafficking and slavery in the U.S.

Applications are due by April 2, and all applicants must be college students. Students should be prepared to describe their teams’ ideas for ending modern-day slavery.
