Slam Dunk Contest

Slam Dunk Contest, NBA All-Star Weekend wrapped up with a game worth remembering as Kobe Bryant officially became the greatest All-Star game scorer of all-time, after passing Michael Jordan’s 262-point mark.

Fans needed to witness a milestone like that on Sunday night as Saturday night will surely be remembered for another, less prestigious one—the worst Dunk Contest of all-time.

A motorcycle, a slam net force meter, a tiny comedian in a mailman suit; the NBA has grown so desperate to make the dunk contest relevant since the league’s most exciting players refuse to compete, that every dunk is now overloaded with gimmicks in attempt to keep people interested.

The result, however, is a contest so weighed down, so dull for everyone involved, on Saturday night Charles Barkley began thinking out loud about how easy it would be for him to steal P. Diddy’s jewelry in a dark alley.

He was joking of course, speaking for his own amusement if anything, but it was the most entertaining part of the night.

“But what else are they supposed to do?” some may be thinking by this point, “all the best dunks that are humanly possible have already been done.”

Well, that may be true. But that ignores the real appeal of the dunk; that it is the best example of the innate gracefulness of the human body seen in any American sport. In fact, in any aspect of American culture.

Look again at the videos and pictures of some of the past dunk contest winners. Do it now. Google “Michael Jordan dunk contest,” then click on images. Scan them a bit. Do you see it? The artistry in the way his body suspends in air, in the way he twists, the way he holds the ball?

And you can see it in other too. Do the same for Dr. J, Clyde Drexler, Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter.

Slam Dunk Contest 2011 Video

Slam Dunk Contest 2011 Video, The Slam Dunk Contest 2011 video showing Los Angeles Clippers big man Blake Griffin jumping over a car to make a basket was screaming fans with the feat. The event took place this weekend at all Saturday Star, which showed five players vying for the title. Many amazing displays of athleticism and sheer power were part of the event but none more impressive than the winner. The winner compiled a large screen first one bringing in a car strategically placed under the basket with a choir singing in the local church “I Believe I Can Fly” before the jump.

The Slam Dunk Contest in 2011 was won when Blake Griffin was the ball thrown by teammate Baron Davis, who was inside the car and passed the ball through a sunroof. Griffin sailed on the hood of the car and was able to drive the ball in the hoop landing on the hood to the excitement of the crowd. Every year we wonder if the NBA Slam Dunk Contest (presented by Sprite!) Could possibly be worse, and every year it does? It is difficult to know exactly where this contest has gone wrong. Although no year comes to mind that the official position of shooting, it would probably be somewhere around the year in which the accessories were first authorized. At this interesting moment, incredible dunks suddenly become secondary to the animal baked, or stuffed silly or stupid costume you might drudge up. This year was no different from the past few disappointing efforts. There was a little kid who I’m sure it’s the lead rapper of the Far East Movement lost her teddy bear in the rim. And Blake Griffin with the simplest dunk in the world during the single car in the world. More than any other antics that occurred during that forgettable performance last night. The term “car hop” dunk in particular speaks volumes about what all this had become. Between Crenshaw walking on the chorus and in a wheelchair to the car (official car sponsor of the NBA dont’cha know) everybody seemed to completely ignore the vanilla was the dunk.

NBA Dunk Contest 2011, The program for this weekend of events has three nights of action in the NBA, where amazing happens! Not only that, Virginia will see more products in the famous Oak Hill Academy in action at the weekend. On Friday night, the celebrities get to try their luck on the hardwood floor in the 2011 NBA Celebrity All-Star. The event will be shown on ESPN from 7:00 p.m. EST. Singer Justin Bieber is among the stars who are trying to get their game on. At 21 pm ET, TNT, after meeting the stars, will be the NBA Rookies vs Sophomores annual Thurs Featured in the contest will be Phenom recruit John Wall and Blake Griffin.

All-Star Saturday Night will feature several exciting contests. The evening begins at 8:00 p.m. EST on TNT and includes the skills competition, Three-Point Shootout, Sprite Slam Dunk Contest. Are the plans of all three-time points leader, Ray Allen, back to the track as he did in 2001? Maybe Oak Hill Academy player, Kevin Durant will win the trophy three points in 2011? Then the local star Wizards, John Wall, capturing the trophy skills? Does Blake Griffin out slamming the competition in the dunk contest 2011, or Wizards big man Javal McGee won the title?

There are people who think that Saturday night the weekend All-Star is more entertaining then the actual game. I can see how one could think that because of all the different things going and the skills that are on the screen. Tonight should be just as fun as any All-Star last Saturday, and I hope we fans will have a heat victory hometown to celebrate as well.

The first game is out D-League All-Star. For some reason I was wrong and I thought it was yesterday, my bad about it. The game is actually at 17 o’clock this afternoon. Here are the files again:

The third event of the night is the Foot Locker 3-Point Contest. Participants in this are Ray Allen and Paul Pierce of the Boston Celtics, Kevin Durant of Oklahoma City Thunder, Daniel Gibson of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Dorell Wright, Golden State Warriors and James Jones of the Miami Heat.

Players will compete in the competition with two rounds with the top three in the first round to move to the final phase. Five shooting stations will be set up around the line at three points, with four match points in the NBA Spalding Official worth one point each and one Spalding NBA All-Star 2011 commemorative red, white and blue “money ball “worth two points at each location.

Each player has one minute to shoot as many balls as he can. In the final round, players will shoot in ascending order of scores in the first round. Heat is the only team to have three different players win the race. Glen Rice won in 1995, Jason Kapono won in 2007 and Daequan Cook won in 2009.
