Siesta Key Beach

Siesta Key Beach, This is a gimmick, but whose trick is? He reached the shore at Siesta Key Beach Tuesday morning was a man of eight meters, Lego, his shirt emblazoned with a cryptic message and grammatically challenged: “NO REAL THAN YOU ARE.”

Jeff Hindman was walking along the beach and first saw the figure of 100 pounds to the light before dawn. Thinking it was the sea life washed ashore during the night and left on the gentle waves to the ankles, Hindman came and discovered the statue was made of fiberglass, as a ship’s hull.

He took a picture, and then dragged the man out of the water Lego and put it up.

A crowd started gathering theories.

An artist statement about the human condition in the 21st century? A toy that fell off a boat? A marketing campaign for the new Legoland amusement park near Orlando?

“Nonsense,” said Hindman.

Similar Lego men with very grammar ironing is on the beaches in the Netherlands in 2007 and England in 2008. In the back of the Lego man’s shirt Siesta Key is the name of “Ego Leonard” and number 8.

Leonard ego is supposedly the name of an artist from the Netherlands, but it was unclear whether it was a real name or if it was a true artist behind the work. The header on the website of Leonard, written mostly in German, is “no real than you are” and the home page has a picture of a Lego man.

An email sent to Leonard was answered in person.
