Colts Jets

Colts Jets, (AP) – Personally, Rex Ryan will take it. He beat Peyton Manning with a script made-for-TV. Nick Folk made a 32-yard field goal as time expired Saturday night, finally giving the Jets and their coach turgid 17-16 win in the playoffs during Colts Manning to enter into a showdown at the head-to-face that Ryan called personal.

“I’ll tell you is an incredible feeling because it’s the playoffs and we move on,” Ryan said.

Manning, oddly enough, is not.

After winning four straight games to clinch the AFC South, Manning moved the Colts in position to kick a go-ahead to 53 seconds. Then, the league MVP four times watched helplessly as the Jets drove down the field for the last time.

This is not the kind of Manning arrived, and Ryan, are used in this series.

“It’s certainly disappointing tonight and that’s really all you think about tonight,” Manning said. “It’s disappointing the way we lost tonight. Every time you lose on a kick last second, it certainly stings. ”

With his main executioner of the way, Ryan and his Jets (12-5) head to New England for a third meeting with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick on Sunday, they were separated during the season but the Patriots won 45-3 in Foxborough.

The Colts (10-7) beat the Jets to the AFC title a year ago. But the two champions were eliminated defending conference playoffs Saturday. New Orleans, who beat Indy in the Super Bowl last February, lost to Seattle.

It was a remarkable turn of emotions – and events – for the Colts, who thought they had just beaten again when Ryan Adam Vinatieri has made an investment of 50 yards that would have added to Vinatieri’s reputation as best clutch kicker in NFL history.

“You know, he (Manning) is the best,” said Ryan, “and he almost did for us.”

But Antonio Cromartie returned the kickoff that followed 47 yards and Mark Sanchez needed only five plays for the Jets in position for the winner.

Manning certainly had chances to beat again Ryan. He was 18 of 26 for 225 yards and a touchdown and set Vinatieri able to win with the eight games, 48-yard drive.

Manning the mistake was one of the opponents as the Jets are generally against him by leaving too much time on the clock.

“We were certainly trying to pick up this first test at the end, we thought it would make them use some of their timeouts and we could run the clock,” Manning said. “But we have not chosen the first attempt and had to settle for field goal.”

The Jets made Manning pay, and when the Colts called timeout 29 seconds and the ball at the Indianapolis 32, Sanchez connected with a high pass to Braylon Edwards for a 18-yard completion on the sideline right-Colts 14.

On the next play, Folk trot and he won.

“We must raise our hats to our attack. It was unbelievable,” said Ryan, whose bravery made him a sensation Summer HBO “Hard Knocks” series. “I mean, we totally dominated the second half offensively. On defense, we had to hold serve. Cons Peyton, you’re not going to stop it completely, but our guys played well enough to do the job and keep it out of the endzone. Our offense was just spectacular. ”

Manning connected with Pierre Garcon, the star of the championship game last year, on a pass from 57 yards for the score of the first half.

LaDainian Tomlinson, considered by some washed before the season, carried 16 times for 82 yards and scored on two 1-yard will give the Jets their first lead at 14-10 with 9:59 left in the game.

“It is emotional, exciting and all these things at once,” said Tomlinson. “We knew it would be a dogfight against a great team.”

It should be after Vinatieri was 14-13 and then put Indy back in the lead with his goal longest field since he was 51 yards to beat San Diego November 23, 2008.

And it seemed that Ryan Manning is top again.

But Cromartie, Sanchez, Edwards and Folk did not let him.

“We have been in some close this year, but go out and get this game against a football team, against a great quarterback, he has been a Herculean effort,” Ryan said a relief. “I mean really, I’m really grateful for the men I coach. Grateful for both our backs, beat it in there. Grateful for support personnel. Grateful for Nick Folk, and I am happy that I finally managed to beat Peyton Manning. ”

NOTES: Indy finished the season with 18 players on the disabled list after allowing the cornerback Kelvin Hayden on the list before the game. … Manning’s 18 completions gave eight short passes Joe Montana for second on the career list in the playoffs. … Jets running back Shona Greene carried 19 times for 70 yards and Sanchez was 18 of 31 for 189 yards with one interception. … New York receiver Brad Smith left in the first half of a quad injury in his right leg, but returned in the second half.
