TumblrTumblr, * UPDATE * Approximately 40 minutes after going down, Tumblr sent the following message on their sites. In most situations, planned outages or changes to the infrastructure “will be released and” Be Back Soon “message would be sent immediately.
Just when you were starting a few heads and draw attention of the masses of people and large companies, fell Tumblr.

Since about 2:15 am Pacific, all blogs hosted on the site went down and from the time of this post are still down. Its user interface backend and personal blog is also down. There has been no word yet from the company’s Twitter account.

Tumblr has become a rising star in the media that offers more functionality than Twitter, a travel easier and more convenient method of blogging platforms like WordPress, and an element of the community similar to Vox and Ning. Other social media sites have survived the extended downtime (Twitter is notorious for downtime), but it will be interesting to see if there is any backlash with many active users Tumblr moving most of their online communications and content to its “Tumblelog“.
