San Beda CollegeSan Beda College, The San Beda College (SBC) Red Lions defeated the San Sebastian College-Recoletos (SSC-R) Gold deer, 57-55 in Game 2 of the NCAA season 87 final to claim his second title of law and the crown 16 in school history.

Like his game a win, the Red Lions took the lead in the fourth quarter after trading baskets and leads the golden deer in the first three quarters.

With key striker Lanet Garve in time, backup forward David Semerad intensified, scoring 7 points in the fourth quarter, including the vital importance of lay-up advantage with 6:09 to go.

Strong Red Lions defense held the deer just 5 points in the fourth quarter, as San Sebastian, bombed away from outside, with little effect.

“It feels great, Walang kaparis” said San Beda coach Frankie Lim, who has won four titles in five years at the helm of the Lions. “Yung AMS Namin players who have been working hard all year. This is the reward we get for our work.”

Graduating big man Dave Marcelo was named MVP of the Finals (MVP) after San Beda anchor the defense throughout the series, averaging 8 points and 13.5 boards in two games.

Lim congratulated on his return to players after the game, especially in Game 1 hero, Villahermosa Sea, and the twin brothers Anthony and David Semerad.

“These guys can play. They can offer. In the last two games, whether Medy Gabo (Lanet), and the twins were there,” he said.

“Sabi ko sa Kanil, there’s no tomorrow. We should make this game our last game in the NCAA, and they responded well,” said Lim.

Semerad had 15 points, while Marcelo neck 16 rebounds for the Red Lions. League MVP Calvin Abueva finished with 12 points and 13 rebounds, but missed a crucial free throw at the end of quarter.
