Salma Hayek Pictures, Our favorite deep-voiced cat is back in his own movie with “Puss in Boots”, not only with Antonio Banderas in the voice cast, but the talent Salma Hayek. The two actors have won international acclaim over the years but has not been a particularly easy way. I had the opportunity to sit down and talk to the actors work hard so that the road was getting to where they are now, the Latino community and, of course, “Puss in Boots”.

Before I met Jack Shrek and the donkey, he was a swashbuckling hero who protected the innocent. A group of thugs old pub says that two murderous outlaw named Jack and Jill have discovered an ancient power that can destroy the world. Jack then embarks on a journey with his old friend Humpty Dumpty, which also presents Softpaws Kitty, a clever black cat who is interested in the trip is Jack. With his new buddies, Jack embarks on his most adventurous and dangerous journey ever.

Melissa Molina: Well, I wanted to talk to you (Hayek) about his character Softpaws Kitty. You talked about how much time we have, how you really do not prepare, but she’s a femme fatale bit. Is there anything else she brought with her?

Antonio Banderas: (in deep voice) Yesssss. Can you include this in the recording?

Melissa Molina: Yes, I’m recording. (Laughter)

Salma Hayek: I think she is very, very independent and I am also very independent, so I think there were a lot of fun with that aspect of it.

Antonio Banderas: A thief!

Salma Hayek: I’m not a thief.

Antonio Banderas: A traitor!

Salma Hayek: It’s everything you need, that’s it, that’s for sure. So do not criticize my cat.

Melissa Molina: Are you able to work together at all when they were doing the voiceover?

Antonio Banderas: We did one session together.

Melissa Molina: What was that? Especially for you (Hayek), because this is your first voice acting gig.

Salma Hayek: Yes, we had lots of practice before the director and by the time we got there we had the character because the character at first was not very defined. At the time I came to Antonio, Chris (Miller) I had prepared enough for what they were able to improvise together and come to new things.

Melissa Molina: I wanted to ask about how some people are saying that “Puss in Boots” is a victory for Latinos because they are finally in the lead roles of a conventional film. Is it easier for you to get more roles now? Was it difficult when you started? What is the landscape, as now, when it comes to that?

Antonio Banderas: It is starting to … normal. It finally began receiving normal.

Salma Hayek: (laughs) That’s very true!

Antonio Banderas: There were some other steps on the way here to normal. When I first arrived in this country that were designed just to play drug dealers, the bad guys. It was just hard to find a character I could play was a hero. But remember that in “Zorro” the bad guy was a blond guy, while the hero was a dark-skinned Latino …

Salma Hayek: But there was a lot of Latinos in this country.

Antonio Banderas: I’m sorry?

Salma Hayek: There was a lot of Latinos.

Antonio Banderas: Oh, she complains again.

Melissa Molina: Are you talking about them casting Catherine (Zeta-Jones) in the female lead?

Salma Hayek and Anthony Hopkins. They are wonderful, I love them, but really the only Latino in the main group was that (Banderas).

Antonio Banderas: So, little by little things are normal again I believe that behind the efforts of the community to show the world the ability to work they have actually improved in the new generations, especially in their families, to send to school and study more because they know that some people sometimes take for granted what life has given them. They come well prepared and there are Latinos that are now in all American institutions and practices have a strong effect on Hollywood. These guys are studying the demographics and you have no idea how anyone excited as Jeffrey Katzenberg, our producer, was when he was telling me the trail of the Spanish community in this film. It is beyond the charts, is a twenty percent larger than they expected.
