The Second Mile, The chief executive of the charity founded by the primary suspect in the Penn State University child sexual abuse scandal said Friday the group may have to cease operations.
David Woodle, CEO of The Second Mile, said a shutdown is among three possible options for the organization as it considers its future viability in wake of sexual abuse charges filed against former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.

Woodle said the charity for at-risk children is considering reducing services, transfering its programs to another organization or closing its doors altogether.

“We are working with all our donors and supporters to determine the projected future level of support,” Woodle said. “Our primary goal is to sustain programs for the sake of the kids.”

Sandusky is charged with abusing eight children associated with the charity over a 15-year period.
