Obama Dictatorship

Obama DictatorshipObama Dictatorship, Listen to deduct Congress debates deficit is like listening to a den of lions discuss the welfare of the zebras. In both cases, the debate is very one-sided. Sound of Democrats and Republicans nasty on TV, but their arguments differ in the smallest of the titles (like lions fighting over the best way to eat a zebra.)

Zebras in this case the U.S. workers, who see their interests represented by so-called representatives. Instead of fixing the national deficit in the way that the vast majority of Americans want, only the opinions of a small minority of very rich people are considering. Both political parties together to reduce the deficit on the backs of workers.

For example, Obama’s chief of staff, William Daley, recently spoke about the budget deficit and the need for massive cuts to social programs, including Social Security and Medicare:

“They [the Democrats and Republicans] agrees that a number of about 4000 billion and [cuts] is the number to make a serious dent in the deficit … He [Obama] did not come to this city to do the little things. He came to do great things. “(July 10, 2011).

In a recent presidential speech Obama said: “The government must start living within their means, as do families. We have to reduce spending that we can not afford to put the economy on more solid base, and give our companies the confidence they need to grow and create jobs. ”

This is the language of right now is the language of both the Democratic and Republican parties. In fact, the U.S. government can easily access to billions of dollars in revenue, but simply chooses not to. Both political parties refuse to discuss how to raise taxes on the wealthy and corporations could solve the problem of the current deficit, both federal and state levels. The only mention of taxes on the rich is in the context of the Bush tax cuts, which some Democrats would permit, that expires next year, but it is very possible that Democrats “compromise” on this issue once again.

Even the liberal economist and supporter of Obama, Paul Krugman put two and two together, saying:

“In fact, if all you did was listen to the speeches of his [Obama], we can conclude that basically shares the diagnosis of the Republican Party of what ails our economy and what must be done to fix it.” (July 8, 2011).

The rich and corporations have always hated Social Security and Medicare, who prefers not to pay taxes for these programs at all. It lowers their winnings. And only this view is shared by the media and discussed in the halls of Congress. If massive cuts are made to these federal programs at the expense of millions of workers – without a substantial increase in taxes on the rich – then the safety net in the U.S. have been critically injured.

How the vast majority of working people in this country, as the deficit is set? Poll after poll has indicated that the reduction in Social Security and Medicare is very unpopular, while raising taxes on the rich is very popular. A recent Washington Post / ABC News reported that 78 percent of Americans oppose cuts in Medicare, while 72 percent favor taxing the rich. (April 20, 2011).

But polls are just a way of expressing popular opinion, democracy, ie. Another alternative is the street mass mobilizations. In Greece, most people have shown the anti-democratic policies of his government, which is trying to impose massive cuts to social programs to solve problems in Greece budget. Sound familiar? If the Greek government does not change the course that will have zero popular support, ie it is a dictatorship. Obama’s silence on the situation in Greece is very revealing.

In order to follow the Greek example of mass mobilization and Wisconsin, there must be an impulse to the organization within the labor organizations to make this happen. A resolution adopted unanimously by the Executive Committee of the San Francisco Labor Council on July 5, 2011 expressed this view:

“The big question now is what the labor movement is going to do to meet this challenge faced by workers and most of the choice is clear: the protest or limited labor against cuts in social programs the pronouncements of opposing them, along with pressure groups, or combine. These efforts with a mobilization of all the row-and-file and our allies to prevent cuts to be enacted. ”

The San Francisco Labor Council resolution also urged all sectors of labor to organize “a campaign to mobilize support” without cuts or concessions! Tax on corporations and the rich “in the streets – where more than -. And in every corner of the nation!”

Democracy is no longer expressed in the halls of Congress or the White House and therefore must be transferred to the streets.
