RIP TupacRIP Tupac, On September 13, 1996, Tupac Shakur, better known by his nom de 2Pac rap, died of gunshot wounds he had suffered six nights.

Shakur was murdered in Las Vegas after attending a Mike Tyson boxing match at the MGM Grand on September 7, 1996. He died of respiratory failure and cardiac arrest at University Medical Center

The legendary multi-platinum CD selling rapper was the name on the marquee of the death certificate label’s highly successful line. With more than 75 million albums sold since 2007, Shakur is one of the best-selling rap artists in history. With his rap songs often on racism and social injustice, Shakur was also a civil rights activist.

Fifteen years after his death, his fans and rappers still remember the legacy of Shakur. One of the oldest cohorts Shakur Death Row and close friends, Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., better known by his nom de rap Snoop Dogg said his legacy lives on.

“His legacy is more profound than people can imagine. I’ve been around the world and the legacy of Tupac is so deep. You have people believe he is still here. It gave people a train of thought. Warren Griffin III, better known by his rap name Warren G, was also on the label Death Row back in the 1990s. He said it is difficult for him to listen to the music of 2Pac and fellow death row late cohort Nate Dogg.

“It’s hard for me to hear their music, because I knew them. I guess to be around them, so I kind of trouble a bit, but it was a good guy,” said Griffin.

2Pac fans express their love for the rapper on Twitter. On the anniversary of his death, “RIP Tupac” was the number one topic of trends in Twitter.

Shakur’s estate is in honor of the rapper this week. From September 13 through September 18, there will be articles, music videos and a documentary about Shakur 2pac.com.
