Rim Blackberry TorchRim Blackberry Torch, The Torch 9810 is the second recent RIM hat-trick of BlackBerry devices to go on sale. In fact, you may have heard that there are five, but currently only three models will be available in the UK.
The Bold 9900 is a QWERTY device straight-up, but this hides the keyboard on a slide, and the torch will be an upcoming 9860 full-screen, touch all models. The 9810 is the monitoring of the Torch 9800 from last year and in the face of it, not much has changed.

As with the Sliders, which is a little on the thick side of 62 x 111 x 15mm and light, not 161g. Retains the same form, but the uniform black plastic of the previous model has been replaced by a metal makeover – polished aluminum around the edges with a ridged roof, back to the touch.

The 3.2in touchscreen dominates the front, and beneath a row of buttons start and stop the call, menu and back, and an optical trackpad. Like all recent BlackBerrys, you can adjust the sensitivity of the trackpad to suit your own style.

On one side are the volume buttons and 3.5 mm headphone jack – tut-tut, it’s always better to have this at the top – and the BB level programmable “hot key” that defaults to the camera. On the other side is a micro USB power / sync port with pressure points to the lock screen and mute the top.

In addition to aesthetic changes, the first serious difference with 9810 is evident when you turn it on. The resolution of the capacitive touch screen has gone from 480 x 360 640 x 480 and, although not much like shaving catchingly eyes still strong, and much better than its predecessor.

The screen slides up easily with the push of a thumb to reveal the 35-key QWERTY keyboard. Like their other handsets, RIM is well and truly covered area, and despite the small size of the keys, unique angled design makes it exceptionally easy to operate.
