Rick Santorum News, In a one-on-one exclusive interview with Today’s 6 News, former Pennsylvania senator, Rick Santorum said he was delighted to be campaigning in Boise Tuesday night. The presidential hopeful is confident Idaho Republicans will make him the winner in the Gem State’s historic GOP caucus on March 6.

“We’re certainly here and no one else is coming here,” Santorum said. “We certainly feel like we have a good strong base of strong conservatives here in Idaho that will align with the values I have. I feel very confident we’ll get a good number of people to come and caucus for us.”

Santorum is surging in national tracking polls among likely Republican primary and caucus voters. Santorum is now in a dead heat with former Massachusettes governor, Mitt Romney.

Senator Santorum’s campaign picked up momentum in early February after sweeping the Colorado and Minnesota caucuses and dominating the Missouri primary. But, Santorum argues momentum is not the key to his success.

“You don’t ride momentum all the way,” Santorum said. “You have to be a good candidate with a good message and be able to communicate to the people of this country why you can not only beat the president, but be ready to govern this country.”

The former senator hammered both President Obama and Mr. Romney. “They have favored big government solutions that have failed to fix the nation’s problems,” Santorum said. “It just doesn’t work that way. We need to reduce the size of our national government, reduce the defecit, put forth a pro-growth platform particularly in the area of manufacturing, get some manufacturing jobs back in this country, and we’ll be in good shape.”

More than 1500 Idahoans gathered to hear Santorum inside Boise’s Capital High School.

Governor Romney will be in Boise for a private fundraiser at the Grove Hotel beginning at 11:30 a.m. Romney will then hold a public rally later that afternoon.
