Rick PerryRick Perry, Dozens of Republicans support South Carolina Republican Gov. Rick Perry for his party’s presidential nomination.

This week, Perry’s campaign announced that the representative of Chip Limehouse of Charleston, representing Mount Pleasant, in the legislature, has approved Perry.

He joined the State Senators Paul Campbell, Larry Grooms (R-Bonneau), Mike Rose, and Rep. Chris Murphy, of Summerville, along with Senate Majority Leader Harvey Peeler Cherokee County, in support of Perry.

In a statement released by the campaign, Campbell cited Perry’s executive experience.

“I believe that Governor Perry is the only candidate in the race that you can recover and regain the White House the way of U.S. prosperity,” said Campbell. “I am supporting Rick Perry and I will be encouraging others to do the same.”

A new Winthrop University poll released Tuesday showed Perry holding a narrow lead over former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney among Republicans in South Carolina.

The results, released Tuesday, show that respondents who said they definitely planned to vote in presidential primaries in South Carolina, 30.5 percent favored Perry and 27.3 percent supported Romney.

In a survey released in August, Perry had a double-digit lead over Romney.

Influential conservatives in South Carolina, New Hampshire and Iowa Gov. Rick Perry described as George Bush as the leader who can defeat Obama in a recent Huffington Post / Patch survey.

Perry was approved earlier this month by Mick Mulvaney, a Republican who represents the fifth district of Pee Dee of South Carolina, during the Freedom Forum Palmetto.

However, several senior Republican backing SC come. U.S. Senators Jim DeMint and Lindsey Graham have not tipped their hands, and neither has Gov. Haley Nikki. Mulvaney and others, none of the congressional Republicans Palmetto State have endorsed a candidate.

Perry announced his candidacy on August 13 in Charleston and picked up key support seven days later, the former U.S. ambassador and SC House of Representatives, David Wilkins.
