Regis And Kelly Live, How do you say goodbye to a television legend? Regis Philbin, who holds the world’s record for most hours on U.S. television, stepped down from his host stool on the morning talk show LIVE! With Regis and Kelly this morning after 28 years. In front of a celebrity-filled audience that included Donald Trump, Meredith Viera, Bryant Gumbel, Joan Lunden, Tony Danza, Alan Alda, Disney President Bob Iger, former co-host Kathy Lee Giffords and Regis’s wife and daughters, Regis’s last hour was a tribute to his career and his greatest talent: making America laugh every morning.

The tribute episode began backstage in somber black and white as Regis made his way from his office to Kelly’s dressing room, and finally out onto the stage for the final time. Once on stage, Regis’ famous crankiness was on display when he jokingly complained that Tony Danza was the most famous person in the room. The show then presented a video package of all the celebrities who have done their own impersonations of Regis over the years, beginning with Dana Carvey who coined the Regis catchphrase, “I’M OUTTA CONTROL!” Fun fact: Regis never actually said that. Nevertheless, in their impersonations, everyone from Ben Affleck to Martin Short to Ted Koppel to Barney the Dinosaur inevitably bark, “I’M OUTTA CONTROL!” in their impersonations of Regis.
