Red Hot Chili PeppersRed Hot Chili Peppers, Red Hot Chili Peppers Hiatus officially ended with the premiere of “The Adventures of Maggie rain dance,” the first single from her upcoming album I’m With You. About a month before the premiere of “Maggie”, sat down with MTV News Anthony Kiedis of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Josh Klinghoffer in Venice, California, to discuss the new album by the band (and the long break before him). We will deploy more of the interview, we get closer to that I’m with you on August 30 release date, but we have given fans a taste of what to expect when Kiedis and Klinghoffer explained the genesis of the album title.

And now, “Maggie” officially out of the box, we realized that it would be time to pull the curtain in the second part of the talk, in which Kiedis revealed the origin of the song itself – the origins that began with an hour-long jam session and just a classic bass line.

“When I first heard [‘Maggie’], I knew it would be one. [But] I knew I loved the jam,” says Kiedis. “My first recording of that, I do not think there were many voices in it. It was sort of instrumental majority, about an hour. Flea brought a very specific exercise to write a classic bass line. Woke up, had his tea, sat down: “I will write a classic bass line I can stop you. He played his bass line, until I felt it was cooked in a classic, brought it to us and said: ‘this is the number one classic. On a good day, you just know if we have to fight with the music and get to, and were one of those moments. ”

So Kiedis sat and listened to the track and was immediately impressed by the flea-powered slot had been established. And things took off from there, adding a line of Klinghoffer flying guitar and drummer Chad Smith to provide a backbeat loose, agile. But even if things were taking shape, Kiedis said he never thought “Maggie” would be more than a B-side. If that.

“I took it home and was so fun to hear at last that literally left him in my path, opened the door and danced with the tree next to me for quite some time,” he said. “I had no idea it would be even a song, I just thought, ‘Oh, this is a dance floor. Put in a B-side, [a] an hour. And then, as fate would have it, people heard and were like, ‘Oh, this is the best there. That is the best thing. “”

And finally, “The Adventures of Maggie Rain Dance” made the leap from jam for the first official single. And now that’s out there, Kiedis know you will a lot of times that this is only asked Maggie. Unfortunately, it is about to reveal their inspirations.

“It’s just a collection of memories and people in the way he had saved the best of my consciousness until I heard that music, and then came the dance class back in my consciousness, and the old pen to paper, “he smiled. “Names have been changed to protect the innocent. Although there is Maggie, I realized later. Maggies Two, actually.”
