Ramon Sessions Lakers

March 15, 2012 by · Comments Off on Ramon Sessions Lakers

Ramon Sessions Lakers, The NBA trade deadline was at 3 p.m. today. A person familiar with the trade says the Cleveland Cavaliers have sent backup point guard Ramon Sessions and forward Christian Eyenga to the Los Angeles Lakers.

In return, the Cavs are getting forward Luke Walton and a first-round draft pick.

The Cavs want to build around rookie guard Kyrie Irving, and they’ve acquired another pick to help the 19-year-old. While the trade may help Cleveland’s future, it may jeopardize its chances of making the playoffs this season.

Sessions, who is averaging 10.5 points and 5.2 assists in a reserved role, will fill a hole for the Lakers. The 25-year-old was expected to opt out of his contract following the season.

The Golden State Warriors agreed to trade swingman Stephen Jackson to the San Antonio Spurs for small forward Richard Jefferson, a person with knowledge of the trade told the Associated Press.

Also today, the Warriors announced they had acquired a second-round pick for this June’s draft from the Atlanta Hawks for cash considerations.

Golden State acquired Jackson — who helped the Warriors reach the second round of the playoffs in 2007 — and center Andrew Bogut from the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday for Monta Ellis, Ekpe Udoh (Michigan) and former Detroit Piston Kwame Brown.

The 31-year-old Jefferson is averaging 9.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game this season for the Spurs.
