Peyton Manning Miami, The Miami Dolphins met with Peyton Manning on Monday in Indianapolis, according to a an ESPN.com report. The meeting lasted more than five hours, and included Dolphins coach Joe Philbin and offensive coordinator Mike Sherman.
According to the report, a source described the visit as a “good meeting.” Manning also will meet with Tennessee Titans coach Mike Munchak in the next three days, according to ESPN.com.

Manning also visited the Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals at their training facilities respectively last weekend.

After a spike in excitement Wednesday when Manning first came his South Florida condominium, meetings with other teams and various reports said the Dolphins were a long shot to sign the NFL’s only four-time MVP. A Dolphins team source said Monday they still considered themselves in the running.

Dolphins owner Stephen Ross is in South Florida this week. He wants to add a top-flight quarterback to the roster, and signing Manning would immediately inject hope into a fan base desperate for improvement after three losing seasons.

Pursuit of Manning at this point remains a gamble after he reportedly underwent four neck surgeries to repair a nerve that affects his throwing arm. As a result, Manning missed the 2011 season.
