Stroke Personality Changes, We have heard of many cases of stroke patients experiencing changes in personality and behavior after suffering a stroke, but turning gay is most definitely a new one. And that’s what Chris Birch, a 26-year-old Welsh man, says happened to him after suffering a stroke during a freak accident.
Birch was a straight, 266-pound bank worker that enjoyed sports, girls and alcohol. He was engaged to his girlfriend before the stroke. These days, his life is dramatically different – he’s 154-pounds, works as a hairdresser and lives with his 19-year-old boyfriend above his salon.
According to the Daily Mail, Birch was showing off to friends at a gym by doing a back flip. Unfortunately, he broke his neck and suffered a stroke. He was then rushed to the hospital, while his girlfriend and family waited for him to regain consciousness.
Birch recalls:
I was gay when I woke up and I still am. It sounds strange, but when I came around, I immediately felt different. I wasnt interested in women anymore. I was definitely gay.?
Birch said that prior to the accident, he never experienced any gay inclinations, but the change was immediate after the accident. Birch described:
Suddenly, I hated everything about my old life. I didn’t get on with my friends. I hated sport and found my job boring.”
So Birch quit his job, dropped more than 100-pounds, and started a new life. Chris says his family and friends were shocked by the dramatic transformation, but he doesn’t regret the accident:
