Paul Scholes WifePaul Scholes Wife, The end of an era as Paul Scholes Manchester United ended his career before a packed house at Old Trafford Reds to crush the New York Cosmos 6-0.

So finally, after 676 appearances for Manchester United Paul Scholes finally decided to call it a day with one game at Old Trafford against New York Cosmos.

A rather ironic choice given the aversion of the former England midfielder for the spotlight, to play his career in front of 70,000 fans in a crowded theater full of dreams.

But then Scholes has always done his way. Since avoiding the pitfalls of fame for the safety of family life within walking distance race in England because of all the travel and the hassle involved.

When the likes of Barcelona Xavi rate him as the best midfielder, “In the last 15 to 20 years” or Zinedine Zidane description as “undoubtedly the greatest midfielder of his generation”, born Salford then the boy must have been doing something right.

In short, we are not talking about an ordinary talent. Probably the only thing common about 36 years was his fighting – 120 reserves in all competitions and sending ten-offs tell its own story.

Not that Scholes is to cut all ties with United, which will become a club coach from 2011-12 onwards the season.

With the likes of Eric Cantona Reds legend in the New York Cosmos dugout 14 years after his retirement from the game coming clash against his former boss, Sir Alex Ferguson, then not all the focus was directed Scholes, and if nothing else we had Pele, Bryan Robson, Roy Keane, Peter Schmeichel and Denis Law in the stands.

Scholes included Ferguson at Manchester United team again, along with “Class 92” (Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt and Phil Neville). But not David Beckham, whose contract with Los Angeles Galaxy and could not attend.

Cantona had to settle with members of the U-23 team plus some Cosmos ‘named’ makeweights, including Fabio Cannavaro, Robbie Keane, and Wayne Bridge
And Gary Neville.

For the Cosmos was mainly an opportunity to demonstrate that they have never been out since his disappearance in 1984 in his quest to get 20 MLS franchise.

You see, by the time the club most associated with the heady days of ‘soccer’ career in the United States during the 70 who signed Pele and seemed to usurp baseball, basketball and football in terms of popularity is now just a name for a league to join.

Something like the Olympics, the games are testimony to the participation is not the winner and which can explain the tremendous version of “New York, New York ‘had to endure some sidetone singer, just before kick-off. Back Anglo-American relations for at least 90 minutes.

Then, as befits a team playing American base, strike the opening 8 minutes was taken out of Hollywood. Scholes received the ball about 20 yards away and the whole of Old Trafford ready to shoot he duly obliged with a screamer past Brad Friedel. The stadium erupted.

Twenty minutes later the hosts doubled their lead from the penalty spot after Ashley Young was fouled. With the faithful who wish to take the Reds Scholes penalty Wayne Rooney ahead of a chorus of boos and converted.

United were clearly the most successful team for no other reason than they’re used to playing a team with at least eight of the starting lineup likely to start the Charity Shield final on Sunday.

David de Gea in goal Reds must realize that not all games are like this, while his counterpart Friedel can only hope for a safer defense at Tottenham.

It is interesting, considering that had Robbie Keane and Wayne Bridge out there for the Cosmos trying to impress other clubs, was the 39 year old former United, Dwight Yorke, who looked the liveliest of the visitor.

As expected, the wholesale changes were made in the rest of both teams, but there was little difference in what happened in between. Scholes continued to show its transmission range, while the rest of the team increased their match fitness ahead of the weekend confrontation with Manchester City.

It was three soon after the restart. An orderly way exchange ended with Anderson stroking the ball. It was shortly after this that started the Mexican wave inevitable. And in Danny Welbeck the screen took advantage of some poor defending to make it four.

We as an aspiring villain of the night, Patrick Vieira came through the Cosmos in a crescendo of boos continued every time he touched the ball.

But even the former Arsenal man hard and fellow defender Gary Neville Cosmos could not prevent the number five and six of Mame Biram Diouf as a substitute for U.S. goalkeeper Chad Calderone was exposed again by a rapid return grueling four.

And then it happened with 16 minutes left, Paul Scholes left the Old Trafford camp for the last time when it was replaced in the applause.

The game drifted towards its conclusion with the only disappointment Cantona makes an appearance in the field of game playability.

Scholes reappeared after the final whistle to take the applause and make a final lap of honor with his wife and children.

For fans of Manchester United, the king is dead, long live the king!
