Pa Election Results 2010, OLYMPIA, Wash. – Democratic Sen. Patty Murray has a small but clear lead over Republican opponent in his re-election even tougher competition.

With more than half of the expected vote counted, Murray led with about 50.5 percent to 49.5 percent Republican Dino Rossi. His margin was about 14,000 votes out of more than 1.4 million already had.

It was the first time that Washington residents have gone to bed not knowing the winner in an important election. In 2004, Rossi made a near historic campaign for governor would not end until the following summer. Four years earlier, Democrat Maria Cantwell defeated Republican Sen. Slade Gorton by about 2,000 votes after a recount.

National Democrats hope Murray is clinging to the chair to prevent further losses in the Senate.
