Outkast New Album

Outkast New Album, OutKast may never record another album. Despite years of rumours – and recent talk of an LP in 2012 – Andre 3000 has revealed that he has no plans to reunite with Big Boi.

“There’s been a lot of talk on the internet about an OutKast album and I have to say that as of now, there are no plans for another OutKast album,” Dre said in an interview with GQ. “I really don’t know if or when that will happen.”

Andre 3000’s announcement will be deflating for OutKast fans, who have been waiting for almost six years for the followup to Idlewild. Big Boi started hyping the next OutKast album as far back as August 2009: “It’s coming and the album is fire!” Later that year, Big Boi described plans for his and Dre’s solo albums, to be followed by the duo’s comeback, “depending on how the fans support them”, in 2010.

While Big Boi’s solo album did get released – the excellent Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty – there has been no sign of Andre 3000’s solo outing. Instead, the MC has appeared as featured artist on a string of high-profile hip-hop singles. In the past year he has contributed verses to tracks by BeyoncĂ©, Lloyd, Young Jeezy, Ke$ha, Drake and B.o.B., as well as in a new song with Gorillaz and James Murphy.

“I’ve been taking those calls and for the last two years … doing collaborations,” Andre 3000 said. “These new artists have kind of been keeping me alive. I’ve just really been feeding off of that, and this year I think I’m planning to do a solo project. I don’t know when it will come out, but hopefully it’ll come out this year.

“The only thing I can really say is I’m going to get back to having fun,” he said. “That’s what it was all about when I started this in high school with OutKast. Those were like high school dreams. I’m 36 now, so I have grown-man dreams. This album will just be me being myself as normal.”
