Oktoberfest Cincinnati, It’sa great problem to have, said Chris Kemper with the Chamber of Commerce of Cincinnati. “We have a great weekend of events in downtown with the game the Bengals and a full slate of events at the Oktoberfest.

Can you ever have too many people in downtown Cincinnati? Not, the Chamber said, when there is great football and the second largest party on earth!

This is the first time they have ever done this in the history of Oktoberfest 35. They offered people a glimpse on Friday. There are a lot of food, German beer and German, of course, German music.

And with so many things this weekend, Oktoberfest and the Bengals on Sunday, parking will be at a premium.

People had better be familiar with the posting “no parking” signs, because finding any type of car this weekend could be interesting, especially on Sundays.

Parking “You might consider north of 5th Street, north of the Oktoberfest, and just leave the car park south of the Oktoberfest people are going to football game,” said Kemper.

In 18 hours, Friday night, the city stopping 5th Street, the Broadway race.

“And when we begin to put in place,” said Kemper. “This is a huge undertaking for night, turn 5th Street, in a large artery and make it the largest buffet in Bavaria in the country.”

And not just the United States, “Zinzinnati” ranks only second Munich, Germany, as having the biggest and best beer festival in the world.

“We expect somewhere in the neighborhood of half a million people here,” said Kemper. “Munich, they are actually celebrating their 200th anniversary this year, we celebrate our 35th anniversary, so maybe in 165 years, we can catch ’em.”

One of the best kept secrets is parking inside the garage right on Fountain Square, Just for the weekend part of the vine will flow in both directions, so as to come south on 6th Street, you can make a left turn onto Vine Street to the garage.

“You come and you’re in the middle of the game,” said Kemper.

Weiner Dogs Race, eating scallops Weiner, the brats will be the center of attention Saturday.

“The first world championship ever bratwurst eating,” said Kemper. “This is a sanctioned event, we have the number one competitive eater in the world Joey Chestnut Jaws” to come to that. ”

Unlike traditional hot-dog contest eating, where he eats the dog, bun and all, competition is on bratwurst eating fresh bread.

“Joey’s coming-a victory which he ate 47 burritos in ten minutes last week in New Mexico,” said Kemper. “So we’ll see if he can transition from Mexican food in Germany.”

Many booths stayed open until midnight Friday night. The official launch ceremony starts at 11:30 Saturday morning.
