It is one of the biggest rivalries in college football. Ohio State vs.Michigan, and the 2009 game is today. This year’s game, however, because of the situations around the teams, isn’t really a big draw.

As the teams come into the Ohio State – Michigan game 2009, OSU has beaten Michigan five straight times. This is the longest winning streak for OSU in the series since the 1920s.

For the teams that come into the Ohio State – Michigan game 2009, the Buckeyes are ninth-ranked in the AP poll, (9-2, 6-2 in the Big Ten). They have already clinched at least a share of their fifth straight Big ten conference title and a spot in the Rose Bowl.

Meanwhile, Michigan (5-6, 1-6 in the Big Ten) is in the midst of a terrible year. In 2008, Michigan had a school-record nine-loss season. The Wolverines are nearly a two-touchdown underdog in the Ohio State – Michigan game 2009. Such a loss would guarantee their second consecutive losing record, which would be the first such occurrence for the Wolverines since the 1962-63 seasons.

Despite the differences between the two teams, one on the upside and one on the downside, the Ohio State – Michigan game 2009 will mean a lot, to alumni and students. It will also mean something to gamblers, but that interest might be more along the lines of whether Michigan can keep OSU within their two TD betting line, or not.

Much like the rivalries at Stanford – Berkeley, and Army – Navy, however, records mean little in this game. The Ohio State – Michigan game 2009 will still be a big draw on both campuses.
