Official NASCAR 2012 Schedule

February 25, 2012 by · Comments Off on Official NASCAR 2012 Schedule

Official NASCAR 2012 Schedule, The 2012 NASCAR Nationwide season opener – Drive4COPD 300 – will be blasting off around noon today at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. At least that’s when the TV coverage begins.

Your first stop on the satellite will be the NASCAR Countdown show on ESPN (Dish – 140). Expect heavy coverage of the former IndyCar driver Danica Patrick who is the only thing hotter than a red Solo Cup at the Speedway this week. She’ll also be starting on the Pole – making her the second woman to win a NASCAR Pole. Read that as even more Danica coverage.

If you’d rather skip the pre-race drama, and are just looking for the core of the racing, leave the TV turned to ESPN since the race broadcast will start at 1:15PM ET and coverage is scheduled to go through 4PM.

The official green flag to start the race will fly at 1:34 PM.

As for the rest of your options, you can check out web streaming, live-timing, and radio.

For LIVE timing and scoring nascar.com will be your home. For those of you with Sprint phones, follow the race on your NASCAR app like 3 million other people have done.

On the radio, Motor Racing Network – which has exclusive radio coverage and live internet streaming for all sprint cup events in 2012 – check out at MotorRacingNetwork.com. Barney Hall and Joe Moore will handle the coverage on the radio and on the Internet which starts today at 12:45 pm ET.

For the international audience, you can flip over to MotorsTV, the channel will be showing the opening round of the 2012 NASCAR Nationwide Series LIVE at 5pm (GMT).

As always, try twitter with the tag #nascar.

The weather today is looking a bit cool for the fans in the stands – low 60s – but rain won’t be a concern at all!

NASCAR 2012 Schedule

NASCAR 2012 ScheduleNASCAR 2012 Schedule, The Budweiser Shootout is the prelude to the Daytona 500. It is an exhibition race of rich history and excitement. The Shootout used to be a race of pole winners from the prior season but more recently was changed to include the top 25 in driver points and any driver that has previously won a NASCAR race at Daytona, including Shootout winners.

The main significance is that the requirements for entry is based on Drivers points and Drivers past history. Owner’s points and car history is not used for entry into the race.

What this means is that some of the driver changes and team changes has affected the quantity of cars and teams that can enter the race.

Specifically these changes are as follows:
Kurt Busch leaving the #22 for the #51, the #51 James Finch car is now eligible for the Shootout.

A.J. Allmendinger was 15th in points so even though he moved to the #22 Dodge, that car and team is still eligible for the Shootout.

If Richard Petty Motorsports does opt to put Aric Almirola in the #43 car, that car would not be eligible to enter the Budweiser Shootout. If they hired David Ragan, David Reutimann or Brian Vickers then it would be as all of those drivers were in the top 25.

In the coming weeks as these driver changes get official the Budweiser Shootout field will take shape. Also in the coming weeks some of the other drivers that don’t have a full time Cup series ride might get a Shootout only ride.
