People began to chirp like crazy, struggling to find lyrics, desperate to find out the mystery of who might be. Did it mean Myron Rolle, who vetoed the draft a year ago to be a Rhodes Scholar and is now trying a comeback? Maybe offensive against Bryan Bulaga Iowa, which suffered an infection through the thyroid to emerge as a likely first choice.

Other standing “with the sacrifice soul song, makes me think that you are seeking a commercial partner to capture the 6th.”

“I suppose the songs are not in order of bill. … Carlos Dunlap from Carlos Santana’s song? ”

The blast was maintained when the second song was standing: “We will build the Beat,” by Lil Wayne.

“One of them is better than a boy named Suh!” someone tweeted about Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

More tweets Pete followed, as well as fan response.

• “Superman Song” by Crash Test Dummies, “Tebow?” “Dwight Howard, right?”

• “Today was a fairytale” by Taylor Swift: “This means that Taylor Mays and the fairy tale is playing in his hometown.” (USC safety Taylor Mays is from Seattle, in Seattle is to be with their parents for the project and is a favorite Carroll.)

• “California Love” Tupac: “As Yahweh, Gerhart Toby!” (Cal and Stanford runners, respectively.) “Jimmy Clausen.” (Marshal of Notre Dame, who hired Carroll.)

• “Jump Around” by House of Pain: “You did not say what round, but the following reference sounds like Eric Berry. Top long jump and combine in vert.” (Tennessee safety Eric Berry, that if you take the extremes of likely interest Seahawks Mays.)

• “Jeremy” by Pearl Jam: “Someone wants to Jeremy Bates. I guess Damian Williams.” (Williams, a former USC wide receiver Bates coached by former USC offensive coordinator.)

As the day progressed, it was speculated mass in the tweet world.

“These are the tracks in a particular order?

“Pete you are smart, but damn guessing these tracks are killing me!”

Then came another tweet Pete:

• “Free Bird” by Lynyrd Skynyrd: One answer: “The Seahawks are to choose the strong outside linebacker – or an aging 1970s rock star.”

And then this from Pete:

• “Do not forget the Davinci Code, too. There may be clues from inside the museum.”

Followed by another response:

“I think Pete Carroll has found a final draft smokescreen … songs on Twitter.”

Carroll admitted as much when we sat down for an interview late Wednesday pre-project.

“Just random songs of guys on the coaching staff,” he said. “We need everyone’s help in finding out the project.”

Then came the joke about Pete, via a Tweet of the course:

• “In its ability to solve the mystery, are masking the seahawksdraftclues # as a joke … but the joke may be on them.”
