Spiderman Trailer

Spiderman Trailer, The latest trailer for the upcoming The Amazing Spiderman was released recently and looks to be a lot different from the 2002 film. Towards the end of the clip, the trailer boldly announces that the film is ‘the untold story’ of high school nerd Peter Parker, a declaration that won’t have escaped the notice of viewers.

British actor Andrew Garfield, known to many as Mark Zuckerberg’s friend Eduardo Saverin in 2010’s The Social Network, has taken over the title role from Tobey Maguire. His portrayal of Peter looks much different from Maguire’s, as evidenced in the trailer. We see Spiderman cracking jokes at a carjacker in the back of the stolen vehicle and swinging through New York from skyscraper to skyscraper.

However, far from being hailed as a hero by the citizens, we see Spiderman being chased by police, before finally being cornered. Later on in the trailer, a tearful Peter confesses to girlfriend Gwen Stacy: ‘I gotta stop him, ’cause I created him,’ possibly hinting that his new life as Spiderman is spinning rapidly out of control.

The trailer received mixed reviews from critics. The Washington Post called the trailer ‘decent’, commenting: ‘It’s a promising sneak peek, full of all the things one would expect from a Spider-Man movie: grand shots of our red-and-blue-suited hero swooping through the city, close-ups of the concerned face of Parker’s love interest (this time, Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy) and the introduction of our villian (Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard).’

However, The Daily Mail describes the trailer as ‘pretty underwhelming’, saying: ‘.It looks like the film is going to have to do a lot of work to improve the action before its July release.’
