February 3, 2012 by · Comments Off on National Wear Red Day

National Wear Red Day, Friday, February 3rd, the American Heart Association is celebrating National Wear Red Day, and thousands of people across Wisconsin will be joining.

Since 1963 the month of February has been designated as American Heart Month. The fight against stroke and heart disease has progressed since then, but there is still work to be done.

Since 2004, the Go Red For Women movement has focused on educating women about heart disease, and getting women to understand that heart disease is their top health threat. In fact, cardiovascular diseases, including stroke, are the number one killer of people in Wisconsin. To find out your risk for heart disease and stroke, click here.

February has become the signature month for Go Red, and Wear Red Day is just one event used to help spread awareness to women across Wisconsin.

Many local companies participate in National Wear Red Day, this year include ProHealth Care, Medical College of Wisconsin, MillerCoors, Northwestern Mutual (on Feb 14), Quarles $ Brady LLP, Robert W. Baird, US Bank — 24 hour banking, Wisconsin Athletic Club and many more.
