National Wear Red Day, Friday, February 3rd, the American Heart Association is celebrating National Wear Red Day, and thousands of people across Wisconsin will be joining.

Since 1963 the month of February has been designated as American Heart Month. The fight against stroke and heart disease has progressed since then, but there is still work to be done.

Since 2004, the Go Red For Women movement has focused on educating women about heart disease, and getting women to understand that heart disease is their top health threat. In fact, cardiovascular diseases, including stroke, are the number one killer of people in Wisconsin. To find out your risk for heart disease and stroke, click here.

February has become the signature month for Go Red, and Wear Red Day is just one event used to help spread awareness to women across Wisconsin.

Many local companies participate in National Wear Red Day, this year include ProHealth Care, Medical College of Wisconsin, MillerCoors, Northwestern Mutual (on Feb 14), Quarles $ Brady LLP, Robert W. Baird, US Bank — 24 hour banking, Wisconsin Athletic Club and many more.

Wear Red Day 2011, Today is National Wear Red Day! Founded in hopes of raising awareness and honor the men and women’s heart health, the National Wear Red Day is a great way for everyone (including children) to draw attention to the cause by simply choosing to wear red. Another interesting information for those who may need to collect some things in fashion, Macy’s – Official Sponsor of the National Day Red will offer special discounts, offers and incentives to all customers who choose to wear the red from February 2-6!

For years, the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, the American Heart Association and other major organizations have joined forces on the issue. On the first Friday of every February, they encourage women to wear the same color everywhere.

The broader objective is to Wear Red Day to show that heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women worldwide. The risk of heart disease in men has been well documented, but the fact that women are often beaten if it was often ignored. But in 2004, the American Heart Association began its work in this change.

According to the Go Red for Women site, only 55 percent of women realize how heart disease can be fatal for them. Red dresses and the clothes are supposed to help them reflect on their heart, and they should not be the only ones to take care of her.

The hope is that Wear Red Day AHA move closer to the reduction of cardiovascular disease, stroke and death by 20 percent. They also want all Americans to their cardiovascular health improved by 20 percent before 2020.

Valentine can happen in less than two weeks, but there is another good reason to be dressed in red this season.

Today, Friday, February 4 is National Wear Red Day. This day was provoked in an attempt to honor and awareness for heart health of women (and men too J).

For those of you who do not know, heart disease is the number one killer for women and kills about one woman every minute worldwide.

So how “National Wear Red Day” or “Go Red to Support Women Day” the day? Well, the Foundation of heart disease began this day to raise awareness of National Women and men around the world. They use this day to draw attention to educational programs and treatment options so that women can be better prepared to prevent and combat this deadly disease.

If you are not wearing red today, we encourage you to change your outfit of the day! If you do not have something red in your wardrobe, hey, it’s a good excuse to go shopping, is not it? In addition, you can reuse cute purchase you make today in a few weeks when V-Day is coming!
