National Pancake Day, To celebrate National Pancake Day 2012 and raise awareness and money for Children’s Miracle Network, the International House of Pancakes announces it will be encouraging donations by giving away short stacks of buttermilk pancakes on Feb. 28, 2012, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. at participating Anchorage area stores.

Donations made at IHOPs in the Anchorage area will benefit the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals’ program at Children’s Hospital at Providence.

2012 is the seventh consecutive year of IHOP’s nationwide fundraising effort. Since its inception in 2006, the restaurant chain has raised more than $7 million to support local charities and has given away more than 14 million pancakes.

On the largest-ever National Pancake Day, in 2011, IHOPs around the country together served 4 million flapjacks, a stack 16 miles tall, and customers donated $2.5 million, exceeding that year’s goal of $2.3 million.

IHOP hopes to raise the overall total to $10 million with 2012’s event, meaning a fundraising goal this year of $2.7 million.
