National Golf DayNational Golf Day, There seems to be a lot of events happening today, not just Apple and Adobe have announced new products, but also the National Day of Golf 2011. There are a few different dates for this event and 04 October is only one of them. In a way to help celebrate we thought we would offer what we believe are the best applications to play golf as a way to celebrate.

First let’s talk a bit about the event, its primary purpose is to raise money for charity, and the PGA has been sponsoring the event since 1952. More than 4,300 professional players are asked to participate, and the money raised from entry fees are shared around a number of different charities. Each year millions of dollars are raised for good causes, so do your bit and attend an event. We would like the golf application developers and Apple also donate money on this day.

Golf ProView HD is the first application, and does not take a genius to realize that it is for the iPad. This is not a game but a tool to help you improve your golfing skills. The master in the application will show you the best techniques for each shot, and with 20 years of experience in the computer-rendered teacher who is sure to be pulling a few master strokes shortly.

Mark Crossfield, which aims to teach the best way to play the game, has created the Pro Golf Application for the iPhone. This is done with a series of YouTube videos, it’s much better to see how to swing the club instead of reading or seeing some pictures. This application is updated with new videos on a weekly basis, making the price of 2.99 and a very good deal.

Dave Stockton positive Golf is another application that uses video to train. This is a bit more expensive and less 3.99, but covers all aspects of the game. The application has a bold claim, saying that is guaranteed to lower your golf score – sounds like a challenge for us.
