Nascar Qualifying Results

Nascar Qualifying ResultsNascar Qualifying Results, The wheels seem to be flying by Ryan Newman. They might be out of his teammate. Newman won his second pole of the NASCAR season by posting the fastest lap of Friday, 122,811 mph, Sprint Cup qualifying at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Carl Edwards, Matt Kenseth, Jeff Gordon and Mark Martin completed the top five of the race on Saturday night Irwin Tools Night (7:30 pm ET, ABC).

The victory was the 48th pole of Newman’s career, moving him within one of Bobby Isaac in ninth place all-time. Among active drivers, only Gordon (with 70) and Martin (50) have won more poles.

The last time Newman first started in a Cup race, won the New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

“It’s huge,” said Newman. “You start from the beginning, your emotions are pretty quiet.”

The frustration continues for Tony Stewart, head of Newman and his team.

Last week, the owner / driver said his No. 14 Chevrolet did not deserve a spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup field is set after the next three races. Friday ran like a bad first qualifying lap that does not generate enough speed to attempt a second.

He will start 42nd of 43 cars on Saturday.

Stewart is 10th in points, and now is in the final guaranteed place for the Chase. But without a win, the champion of the series has twice been placed in a vulnerable spot.

“If we knew what was wrong, we fix it,” Stewart said. “You could turn around in a week, can not become the rest of the year.”

By contrast, Newman 2011 body of work has put him firmly in the Chase. He is seventh in points with one win and eight finishes in the top five, compared with no wins and two top-five for Stewart.

“It was a good day for the 14, it is obvious that he saw in qualifying,” said Newman. “It’s one of those deals where you spend some time regrouping bit overnight.

“I never want to see the cars away, if it comes to starting or results due to a configuration change. But I’m glad that we have given the 14 opportunity to review our notes.”

Newman said that the striking difference between his No. 39 and Stewart’s car is not easy to explain.

“Not only is the team. It’s personal attitude is that the personalities,” said Newman. “(There is) a lot of things that can be much more powerful than a right front spring.”
