November 6, 2011 by · Comments Off on Monumental Marathon

Monumental Marathon, Thousands of runners are expected for Saturday’s Monumental Marathon, Half-Marathon and 5K, meaning many motorists will find themselves stuck in traffic.

Advice? Either be patient or wait until 2:30 p.m. to do errands because all roads will be open then.

The runners start Downtown at 8 a.m., loop around Lucas Oil Stadium, go to Fountain Square and eventually head north on Pennsylvania Street to Fall Creek Parkway before going west on 38th Street, where full marathon runners turn north onto Washington Boulevard. At 58th Street, the course cuts over to College Avenue, runs up to 66th Street, and follows White River before going south on Meridian.

Runners turn at Hampton Drive, skirting Butler University and running on the Indianapolis Museum of Art grounds before following White River Parkway East.

The course returns to Meridian at Fall Creek Parkway, ending near Ohio and West streets.
