Monumental Kirk Cameron, Gearing up for the March 27th release of his new movie “Monumental,” Kirk Cameron paid a visit to the “Today” show in New York City this morning (March 20).

The “Growing Pains” heartthrob chatted with Ann Curry about the firestorm he unintentionally ignited during his recent interview on “Piers Morgan Tonight.”

When asked if he felt hate or anger towards the gay population, Cameron exclaimed, “Absolutely not. Of course not… I love all people, I hate no one.”

Speaking to the media’s tendency towards reductionism, Kirk added, “When you take a subject and reduce it to a four-second soundbite and a checkmark on a ballot, I think that’s inappropriate and insensitive.”

“The truth is, these are issues that are very personal. These are things that need to be discussed in the context, I believe, in a personal friendship with someone who is asking the question.”

“And so when things get edited down to that, I think it doesn’t reflect, it certainly didn’t reflect my whole heart on the matter… Nobody should mistreat anybody. Homosexuals should not be mistreated. Heterosexuals should not be mistreated. Bisexuals should not be mistreated.”
