Monica Lewinsky Today

Monica Lewinsky Today, In recent weeks, one Republican after another has come forward to rebut the Democratic claim that the GOP is waging a war on women. The responses have ranged from homey (Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers responding to Barack Obamas State of the Union address by noting that shed given birth just eight weeks earlier) to creepy (former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee saying Democrats think women cant control their libidos.) But perhaps most puzzling has been the tack taken by Rand Paul, who in interview after interview after interview has accused Democrats of hypocrisy for claiming to support womens rights while giving Bill Clinton a pass for his predatory behavior towards Monica Lewinsky.

Yes, Monica Lewinsky, who enjoyed her 15 minutes of fame 16 years ago. Luckily for Democrats, Paul hasnt cottoned on to their affection for John F. Kennedy (nkd White House pool parties with suspected communist spies) and Franklin Roosevelt (died in the presence of his mistress).

It doesnt take long to grasp the flaws in Pauls strategy. For starters, Clintons infidelities didnt hurt his popularity at the time. Between January 1998, when the Lewinsky scandal broke, and February 1999, when the senate voted not to impeach him, Clinton registered the highest approval ratings of his presidency:

And women backed him at higher rates than men. Hillary Clinton, who many consider Pauls real target, registered her highest popularity during that same period:

Once the impeachment circus ended, Bill Clintons popularity did dip, leading some to suggest”as they continued too throughout the 2000 campaign”that the country was suffering Clinton fatigue. But the problem for Paul is that these days, Americans seem fatigued with the fatigue. A July 2012 Gallup poll found Clintons approval at an impressive 66 percent, higher than it had been since he left office. Among women, Clintons approval rating was 63 percent. It was 44 percent among Republicans. By comparison, President Obamas most recent approval ratings are 43 percent among women and 12 percent among Republicans. Which helps explain why Paul is the only prominent figure in todays GOP spending as much time attacking the last Democratic president as the current one.

So why the anti-Clinton offensive? Because Paul isnt speaking to most Americans”hes speaking to the Christian right. Paul is presumably well aware that while economic conservatives loved his father, social conservatives did not. In the Iowa caucuses, for instance, Ron Paul won 28 percent among voters who said the deficit was their primary issue but only seven percent among those who said it was abortion.

Monica Lewinsky Today 2012, The Monica Lewinsky affair with Bill Clinton is back – at least in the public forum with documentaries that resusitate the affair with Bill Clinton that occurred with Lewinsky, a White House intern, 14 years ago.

The documentaries include in-depth interviews from White House staffers and confidantes who were around Clinton in the darkest days of his Presidency in an affair that scandalized his presidency.

One such trusted aide, Betsey Wright, begged Clinton not to run for President because of all his past affairs.

Writer Gail Sheely said Wright had serious concerns stating, “The day before the press conference he was going to announce that he was going to run, Betsey Wright, his ferociously protective campaign manager, sat him down with a list of names of women and went through one after the other. ‘How many times? Where did you meet her? How likely is she to talk?” Clinton said for each name that ‘she’ll never say anything’, but Miss Wright replied, ‘But you don’t know that!’ Miss Wright supposedly told Clinton, ‘The problem is we’re not just talking about you, we’re talking about your wife, we’re talking about your child.’ She said I don’t think you can run.’”

Clinton eventually won the presidency in 1992, but six years later, his risky infidelities caught up to him as he became embroiled in a sex scandal with the 25 year old intern that would scar his Presidency for life.

Lewinsky alleged that between November, 1995 and March, 1997, she had nine sexual encounters with President Clinton that, according to her testimony, involved fellatio, anilingus, and other sexual acts which included the use of a cigar in the Oval Office, but that did not involve sexual intercourse.

The Lewinsky affair was not Clinton’s first indiscretion. He was confronted with allegations of sexual misconduct during his tenure as Governor of Arkansas, which included a civil lawsuit against him by former Arkansas state employee, Paula Jones, who alleged he had sexually harassed her.

Monica Lewinsky Today, It has been 14 years since news broke about a young intern with the blue dress that was involved in a scandalous affair with the 42nd President of the United States.

Her name was Monica Lewinsky and then President Bill Clinton, at first, denied ever being intimate with the young woman by famously stating, “I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky.” in a nationally televised White House news conference.

Now, documentarians want to bring that affair back to life with in-depth interviews from White House staffers and confidantes who were around Clinton in the darkest days of his Presidency.

Monica Lewinsky Today, A new documentary that is set to air next week on PBS will take a closer look at former President Bill Clinton and his affair with Monica Lewinsky. The new documentary shows how Clinton struggled with the decision to go public with the affair and features interviews from staffers who felt betrayed by the scandal.

The two-part (four hour) documentary will air in Britain and the United States on February 20th.

The Guardian reports that the new documentary shows that Clinton was constantly hounded by women. Clinton’s sexual appeal, and future problem, was foreshadowed during his run for Governor in Arkansas. And the problem became uncontrollable when he became President.

Paul Fray, Clinton’s former campaign manager, said:

“You got to understand that at one time there was at least 25 women per day coming through there trying to find him and I’d tell them he was out on the road. Lord it was bad. Bad, bad bad, bad bad.”

Betsey Wright, Mr Clinton’s trusted political aide, almost convinced Clinton not to run for President due to his past affairs. Writer Gail Sheely said that Wright sat down with Clinton before he announced his bid for the presidency with some serious concerns about women. Sheely said:

“The day before the press conference he was going to announce that he was going to run, Betsey Wright, his ferociously protective campaign manager, sat him down with a list of names of women and went through one after the other. ‘How many times? Where did you meet her?
