Missing Toddler Found, Police made an arrest in the case of a one-year-old boy who was reported missing Tuesday morning. Shelby A. Dasher, 20, was charged for the murder of her son, Tyler, after his body was found dead near St. Louis County cemetery.
When Tyler was nowhere to be found, his mother freaked out and started searching for him fanatically, but to no avail. The boy’s mother, Shelby Dasher, then reported him missing on Tuesday morning, hoping that the combined search of the entire community will yield some results. However, that did not help as Tyler was nowhere to be found. Then on Tuesday evening, Shelby Dasher received news which she was not looking forward to: A police officer told her that Tyler’s dead body had been discovered.
The one-year-old died on the same day of the week on which he was reported missing. A cause of death has still to be established.
According to the details provided by Shelby dasher, she put Tyler to bed after midnight the previous night, and the next day she overslept slightly. When she woke up, she discovered that the toddler was no longer in his crib and he did not even make a sound while walking out. Tyler was in his crib, so it would have been difficult to climb out of it without assistance. Shelby lives at the Affton home with her mother, but even her mother did not notice the toddler going out of the house.
The police said they didn’t find any sign of a break-in in the house nor anything leading to a suspect. St. Louis County Police Chief Tim Fitch said in a news conference that they did not yet have a motive “for the abduction or apparent homicide” of the toddler.
According to the reports provided to Fitch, a man walking a dog found the dead body of Tyler at around 3:30 p.m. and reported it to the police. Tyler was reported missing at around 11 a.m. that morning by his mother.
“At this point there are no suspects. Nor has anyone been eliminated as a suspect,” Fitch said.
