Mike HeimerdingerMike Heimerdinger, Mike Heimerdinger, who served as offensive coordinator of the Tennessee Titans, Denver Broncos, Jets and New York, died on Friday night after battling a rare form of cancer in the past year.
It is with great sadness, but trust in God that we say goodbye to our beloved Dinger who lost his courageous battle against cancer, “said Heimerdinger’s
wife, Kathie, in a statement Saturday.” Mike came up with cancer same vigor and tenacity came to any football match – to win. Even in the final minutes never gave up – it was our Dinger “.

Football seems insignificant after reading a statement like this from the late wife of Mike Heimerdinger. Football, however, was a big part of the “Dinger” life. Enjoyed great success as the offensive coordinator of the Tennessee Titans. He served as OC Titans’ 2000-2004. The Titans reached the playoffs in 2000, 2002, 2003. Heimerdinger had great players like to work with Steve McNair, Eddie George and Bruce Matthews.

Heimerdinger was the offensive coordinator of the New York Jets under Herm Edwards in 2005. He was then assistant head coach of the Denver Broncos Mike Shanahan. He helped transform Jay Cutler on a starting quarterback before returning to the Titans as offensive coordinator 2008-2010.

“It was a harsh treatment and Dinger was a tough guy to the end, it comes as no surprise to those who know what kind of competitor he was,” former chief of the Titans, Jeff Fisher, coach, said in a news release. “He was a man. No matter how weak he looked, how weak it sounded, never had a complaint and fought this cancer, since only expected to fight it.”
