Michigan Primary Results

Michigan Primary Results, It looks like Rick Santorum could at least split Michigan’s Republican delegates, despite losing to Mitt Romney in the Michigan primary’s popular vote on Tuesday.

Democratic strategist Joe DiSano is thanking Democrats for helping Santorum win those delegates.

Romney won the Republican primary 41 percent to Santorum’s 38 percent in Michigan’s Republican presidential primary, with 99.9 percent of precincts reporting, according to the Associated Press.

But Michigan isn’t a winner-take-all state. Instead, it doles out two delegates for each congressional district won along with two at-large delegates, for a total of 30.

A Santorum strategist this morning said the delegates will be split between the two candidates.

The Associated Press is reporting that Santorum could win 17 of the 30 delegates.

DiSano feels good about that. The partner at Main Street Strategies in Lansing launched a robo-call campaign last week urging Democrats to vote for Santorum in an attempt to prolong the primary process and force Romney to spend more money in Michigan.

The robo-calls asked Democrats to press 1 on their phones if they planned to vote for Santorum. DiSano received nearly 14,000 commitments based on those responses. He also sent out roughly 200,000 emails.
