Michelle Obama SoccerMichelle Obama Soccer, It’s not often that a football club are invited to visit the White House, much less participate in a spirit kickaround with First Lady in South Lawn of the famous – indeed, the precedent of the past indicates that something in the line of FIFA World Cup or MLS Cup championship is necessary.

But last week, Mike Yeatts, director general of Prince William Soccer, Inc., was contacted by a staff member Michelle Obama asked if the club wanted to do that on Thursday.

“I got a call last week from the office of the First Lady, asking if they wanted to participate in a clinic with members of the [U.S.] National Women’s Team and Mrs. Obama,” said Yeatts Potomac wire football on Friday.

“It was not long to say yes on that one, that’s for sure.”

So PWSI 25 girls between the ages of eight and 12 years, accompanied by Yeatts and four club, enthusiastically went downtown to join the president’s wife and several members of the USWNT of games and activities to commemorate the “Let’s go!”, an initiative that promotes physical activity and healthy eating habits among young Americans.

They were joined by a delegation from the Anderson Monarchs Girls Soccer Club, a pioneering club in Philadelphia, which provides play opportunities for children downtown African-Americans and Hispanics.

For security reasons, PWSI was given strict instructions not to reveal anything about the trip in advance and had to negotiate to get the tight security cordon of the White House. But the occasion was, undoubtedly, a cheerful and after removing a quick photo in the Hall of China (home to the huge collection of the State Executive Residence China) and a few words of the First Lady and a representative of U.S. football, it was not long before the girls – and their distinguished guest – were running around one of the largest expanses of grass on earth.

“They were put into four groups and ran through some of the activities in four different seasons. The national women’s team led them through the activities,” said Yeatts. “Mrs. Obama have come out and do some activities with the kids was pretty neat – I know the kids really enjoyed having her participation.

“One of the activities was a relay race and got into one group and has participated in against the other groups, so it was fun. She was really into it.”

The girls also savored the rare opportunity to mingle with several of his heroes USWNT, including Nicole Barnhart, Rachel Buehler, Lori Lindsey, Alex Morgan, Kelley O’Hara and Becky Sauerbrunn.

“Yes, they were very excited,” said Yeatts. “They were very well attended and was a very enjoyable day, hopefully something I’ll never forget – I know I’ll never forget.

“I do not know how many opportunities you get to play football on the South Lawn of the White House.”
