Red Line Derailment | USsPost.com:Metro has reported six cars derailed the Red Line train station in North concluded.
Subway in the statement in full:

A six-car Red Line train going in the direction of Shady Grove railway station has reportedly derailed near the railway station completed the North. There are no reports of injuries.

Metro and local officials are the first responders at the scene to investigate and secure access to customers out of the train and the station.

The initial report is that the front wheels of the lead is a car which went off the rails. The incident occurred at 10:13 pm

The Washington Post, citing the Metro spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein on behalf of Channel 4 News:

Metro confirmed that the front wheels of the car the first of the Red Line train derailed at 10:13 pm because it was close to a metro station completed the North.

“Fortunately, we have reports that there were not any injuries,” Metro spokeswoman Lisa Faberstein. “The front wheels of the car in front went off the rails. We do not know how it happened.”

Faberstein author said the six-car train was likely to be full of passengers, in light of the delay in the start of the day for Federal workers after the region hit by a snowstorm on Wednesday. The subway passengers were evacuated after the electricity was cut off on the line and they will be accompanied by walking on the tracks on the station platform.

“It is premature for us to know exactly what happened,” she told the television station.

NBC4 and the Web site says that the passengers were walking about 150 to 200 yards through the tunnel, and along the tracks, to safety. DC Fire and EMS spokesman Piringer house several hundred people were on board the train when it derailed.

Top reports “does not seem to be the derailment Home.”

Red Line derailment: public transportation service is being established between the Dupont Circle and Gallery Place stations.

11: 33  update from the Washington Post says that rescue workers attempting to shut down electricity and trains another step out of the way to gain access to passengers who are still on board the train. Piringer said: “Once we turn off the power, and we will … fully assess the situation.”

11:48 pm: City Paper Erik Wemple reports from the scene said the car Piringer said the train derailed had been separated and are currently transporting passengers from the cars directly affected by the derailment to four other vehicles were not affected, where they’re being evaluation. There are no serious injuries, if there were any injuries at all, “said Piringer.

Passengers affected are likely to be arising from the North Station completed, according to Piringer. A woman wearing a yellow jacket and a black shoulder bag was seen from the station, accompanied by firefighters.

Two of the wounded and refused to be treated, Rubin said, and one was taken to University Hospital, George Washington.

Of AlertDC: “trains will be restricted to the speed of 25 miles per hour between the Dupont Circle North completed railway and subway stations, while officials said the investigation into the incident.”
