Mayim Bialik What Not To Wear

March 18, 2012 by · Comments Off on Mayim Bialik What Not To Wear

Mayim Bialik What Not To Wear, Mayim Bialik’s babies do not wear diapers. Her kids are home-schooled and they sleep in bed with their parents. “The Big Bang Theory” star even breastfeeds her 3 1/2-year-old occasionally. So you probably wouldn’t peg the former “Blossom” child star to be the author of a parenting book.

But Bialik, a Ph.D. in neuroscience and co-star of the geeky CBS sitcom, has found a way to connect her crunchy-granola lifestyle with real-world child-rearing in her new book, “Beyond the Sling: A Real Life Guide to Raising Confident, Loving Children the Attachment Parenting Way.”

Now if you ask us, Attachment Parenting sounds a lot like helicopter parenting, especially Bialik’s controversial method of potty training called Elimination Communication. In her world, babies as young as infants don’t wear diapers. Instead they somehow signal the parent when they need to do their baby business, whereupon the child is held over a bucket or bowl to, er, Eliminate.

Leading us to wonder, who is really getting trained here, the child or the parent???

“Basically, newborns will give signals as well,” claims Bialik, who started using the method when her youngest son was 2 days old. “He would not nurse if he had to pee. I couldn’t figure it out,” says Mayim. “Then we would hold him up over a little bucket or bowl, and he’s never had diaper rash a day in his life!”
