Maurice Jones Drew

December 6, 2011 by · Comments Off on Maurice Jones Drew

Maurice Jones Drew, The one number that concerned Maurice Jones-Drew most on Monday night was nine — the number of losses for the Jaguars following San Diego’s methodical 38-14 victory at EverBank Field.

For all the things that continued to go wrong for the Jags, especially in the secondary, Jones-Drew continued to do his part. His 97 rushing yards gave him the lead in the NFL, and his 91 yards in receptions were a team-best.

“It doesn’t feel good,” Jones-Drew said. “We didn’t play well enough to win. You don’t play this game for individual stats.”

Even with an improvement by rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert, it still wasn’t nearly enough.

The crowd of 62,743 was in a festive mood knowing the Jags soon might soon have a new coaching staff and ownership group. But as much as things might change at the top, the product on the field remained the same Monday night.

And that meant Jones-Drew trying to carry the franchise while Gabbert goes through some growing pains — and the defense tries to keep wide receivers from running wild in the secondary.

“We have to figure out how to keep it going for four quarters,” Jones-Drew said. “We have to figure out how to perform better and keep our defense off the field.”
