Maruti Cervo

Maruti Cervo, Almost all owners of small cars have. But with the current state of the roads of New Delhi, in reality is that they are smiling and from remote parking lots. “Mein Jis jagah 10-Santro Maruti aati hai, badi Gaddi aati hai sirf 5-6 (where 10 or Santro Marutis can be parked, only 5-6 sedan can accommodate),” says Manoj Tiwari, a keeper, in the parking lot NDMC at Janpath.

And the whole city, especially the center of Delhi, is similar to an area devastated by war, is hard work to navigate the brilliant cruise. “Unless you have a designated parking space itself is a nuisance to park a big car,” says Naresh Agarwal, a shopkeeper in Connaught Place.

The situation is no better on the road, about 60 lakh vehicles pushed to find space on the roads of New Delhi. “There could be cheerful and has a [Honda] Civic, but instead opted for a Jazz,” says Pradhan Shristi, a travel management coach to work every day at Nehru Place in Janakpuri. “But it’s really a headache to navigate a great car,” he adds. “In addition, larger vehicles are more prone to scratches and accidents here,” says Manish Bhattacharya, 22, who drive a Santro to college.

Small on stress, frills
No wonder, then, that Maruti Suzuki – which gave India its first small car – still dominates about 47 percent of car market in India, reportedly on the wiki. Even Hyundai, Maruti’s closest competitor with its Santro and i10 now aims for 20.6 percent of the action – courtesy of its small cars.

Add to the list of Fiat, Honda and Volkswagen, even that is now focused on the booming market for small cars. “The best thing now is that manufacturers are packing all the features of a sedan with a hatchback style due to demand,” said Rajiv Mitra, managing director of Corporate Communication, Hyundai. “So there’s no dent in the pride and satisfaction, if you have a small car.”

Therefore, if you’ve been planning to go for a sedan, think again. Remember, most cult “people’s car ‘in history – the Beetle – is still a hatchback of birth.
