Marine Corps Marathon

March 7, 2012 by · Comments Off on Marine Corps Marathon

Marine Corps Marathon, Running the city’s most famous annual marathon may take months of training and a steady pace, but registering for it can be an all-out sprint.

Starting today at 3 p.m. registration for the marathon opens to the masses. Getting into the October 28 marathon will cost you $92, but what’s most important is getting registered quickly. Though 30,000 people end up participating, just about every available slot goes within a day or so—last year, registration closed after 28 hours.

For those of you less enamored with the idea of running 26.2 miles, the Marine Corps Historic Half takes place on May 20 in Fredericksburg. Registration is now open.

If you’re less into running and more into spectating, you can prepare for the Marine Corps Marathon by watching the SunTrust Rock ‘n’ Roll USA Marathon (formerly known as the National Marathon), which is set to take place on March 17, or the Cherry Blossom Ten-Miler on April 1.
