Margaret AtwoodMargaret Atwood, Here’s an idea of Toronto can get behind: Margaret Atwood for mayor. Although renowned author has no intention of actually elections, “the mayor Atwood” the movement has been successful for the night in the city.

More than 6,600 people demonstrated around the fictional campaign to show their support for libraries in Toronto and Rob Ford protest cuts spending.

Atwood thanked the activists for their support, but said on her Twitter page “Noo, no mayoral candidate … too old. I used to think too ignorant, but that has not stopped some.” Earlier this week, Councilman Doug Ford, the mayor’s brother, fought publicly with Atwood on the library cuts, boasting that “does not even know who he is.”

The Atwood for Mayor campaign has had a rapid success in Twitter and Facebook are starting to creep up on the walls and coffee shops across the point T. Talk about a slip Fordist.
