Gandhi Jayanti, Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated across India tomorrow. October 2 is observed as a national holiday each year. The day marks the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation.

Mahatma Gandhi, who was known affectionately as “Bapu” was the freedom fighter of India and believed in the concept of ahimsa or nonviolence. The day is also observed as the International Day of Nonviolence, “around the world.

He was a lawyer by profession and was also a spiritual leader that he also believed in a simple life. Its used to have vegetarian meals simple, easy-wear dhoti was his attire.

Gandhi believed in telling the truth “always” and wanted others also, if your belief. It was introduced in the Indian scenario by the Congress leader, Gopal Krishna Gokhale and since then, he began his political career. There was no looking back for him since then.

Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated on January 30, 1948, just months after India gained independence and the day is observed as “Martyrs Day” in the country.
