Kieran And Rory Culkin, Rory Hugh Culkin (born July 21, 1989) is an American actor and is the younger brother of actors Macaulay Culkin and Kieran Culkin.
Culkin was born in New York City, the son of Patricia Brentrup and Christopher ‘Kit’ Culkin, a former stage actor with a long career on Broadway. Culkin is the youngest of seven children; he has four brothers: Shane Arliss Culkin (born 1976), Macaulay Carson Culkin (born 1980), Kieran Kyle Culkin (born 1982), and Christian Patrick Culkin (born 1987), and two sisters: Dakota Ulissa Culkin (1978-2008) and Quinn Kay Culkin (born 1984). Culkin is the nephew of actress Bonnie Bedelia, who is his father’s sister.
Culkin began acting by playing alongside his elder brothers, among them Macaulay and Kieran, often as the younger versions of their characters. He first appeared in a photograph as a baby in The Good Son, then as Young Richie in Ri¢hie Ri¢h (1994) (Richie being played by his brother Macaulay) and in 2002 played 10-Year-Old Igby in Igby Goes Down (Igby was played by his older brother Kieran).

Culkin’s breakthrough role was in You Can Count On Me, opposite Laura Linney, a role for which he received much praise and a Young Artist Award. Since then, Culkin has appeared in numerous films, Signs being the most famous, in which he starred alongside Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix. As a teenager, Rory started moving into more independent films, such as The Chumscrubber and Down in the Valley. He took a leading role in Mean Creek, a 2004 independent film about a group of teenagers that plan to get revenge on a bully. The entire youth cast won an Independent Spirit Award for this film. Since his Young Artist Award win for You Can Count on Me, Culkin has received three more nominations. He also had a guest role in the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode “Manic”, and in an episode of the Twilight Zone called “Azoth the Avenger Is a Friend of Mine” alongside Patrick Warburton. In May 2010, Culkin was cast for the slasher film Scream 4, which was released on April 15th 2011.

Celebrity Genealogy

March 10, 2012 by · Comments Off on Celebrity Genealogy

Celebrity Genealogy, With genealogy often cited as the second most popular hobby, I’ve never understood why it’s been largely ignored on TV. We’ve got channels dedicated to everything from golf to going green, but aside from shows such as History Detectives and Antiques Roadshow that occasionally incorporate a dash of family history, genealogy has been badly neglected. Finally, that’s about to change.

Active and armchair genealogists across the country — not to mention those who can’t know enough about their favorite celebrities — will soon be treated to two shows offering a combined 11 episodes of prime time programming. Starting on February 10th and running 8:00-9:00 p.m. for four Wednesdays will be Faces of America, the latest PBS series by Henry Louis “Skip” Gates, Jr. Just two days after this series winds down, Who Do You Think You Are? (WDYTYA) will ramp up for seven episodes (Fridays, 8:00-9:00 p.m.) on NBC.

I suppose now might be an appropriate time to confess that I’m not a disinterested party as I conducted research for both of these series and had the opportunity to write the companion book, Who Do You Think You Are?: The Essential Guide to Tracing Your Family History, for one. Still, I can honestly say that my excitement would be as high even if I had had nothing to do with them. Genealogy will make for great TV for one simple reason: there’s no such thing as a boring family. This is reality television that was scripted before TV existed.

Both shows offer considerable, multicultural star power that will appeal even to those who have never looked up a census record or interviewed an older relative. The PBS line-up includes Yo-Yo Ma, Queen Noor, Malcolm Gladwell, Eva Longoria Parker, Mike Nichols, Dr. Mehmet Oz, Meryl Streep, Stephen Colbert, Louise Erdrich, Kristi Yamaguchi, Elizabeth Alexander and Mario Batali, while the NBC one includes Lisa Kudrow (who also happens to be the show’s executive producer), Susan Sarandon, Sarah Jessica Parker, Spike Lee, Brooke Shields, Emmitt Smith and Matthew Broderick.

Though both are celebrity roots shows, their formats are quite different. Both are participatory in nature with celebrities traveling to learn about their heritage, but Faces of America will feature Dr. Gates revealing many findings with his guests (much as he did in African American Lives I & II and Oprah’s Roots), while WDYTYA — a wildly popular import from the U.K. — follows celebs on journeys of self-discovery.

As a life-long and hard-core genealogist, I see this as reason to celebrate. Anyone who’s ever dabbled in family history knows how addicting it swiftly becomes, and if WDYTYA’s success in other countries is any measure, many non-genealogists will suddenly find themselves pulled in by the undertow. So now’s the time for current and budding roots-enthusiasts to start planning their weekly soirees (two shows in the week of March 1st!) to gather with friends, down some popcorn, swap tales of DNA testing Grandpa and purposely getting locked into libraries overnight, and most of all, enjoying these long overdue shows.

Macaulay Culkin

Macaulay Culkin, Although Macaulay Culkin looks gaunt in recent photos, concerns for his health seem to be completely unfounded. A representative for the former child actor was quick to fire back at Entertainment Tonight (ET) for publishing photos of the ex-boyfriend of Mila Kunis “looking extremely thin and scruffy”.

“Macaulay Culkin is in perfectly good health,” the former “Home Alone” star’s spokesperson said in a statement. The rep went on to stress, “For Entertainment Tonight – or any other media outlet – to speculate otherwise is reckless, irresponsible and destructive. We implore them to discontinue the rumor.”

In one of the snapshots, Culkin holds a can of Red Bull in one hand and a pair of sunglasses in the other while on a stroll in New York City. ET additionally reported that in another shot, the 31-year-old actor was seen striking a pose with a fan on the street. ET also mentioned rumors that Culkin will star in British film “Service Man”. The actor’s rep, however, told TV Guide, “Mr. Culkin is NOT starring in ‘Service Man’, don’t take for face value everything you read on IMDb. They are not always accurate.”
