Navratri Message, Srinagar / Jammu, Ocotober 8 (Scoop News) – The governor, NN Vohra, Omar Abdullah Chief Minister made to the persons at the beginning of Navratras saints and prayed for communal harmony, brotherhood, peace, progress and prosperity the State.

In a congratulatory message, the Governor NN Vora said the Navratras have special meaning in Jammu and Kashmir, as the holy shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Deviji witnesses a large influx of pilgrims during this period.

Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah greeted pilgrims in Navratras festival, wishing her well being, peace and progress in the state.
In a message issued on the eve of Navratras, Chief Minister expressed the hope that Navratras will sign for the new era of lasting peace, development and prosperity of the state.

Meanwhile, the Governor, who is also the President of Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, discussed the modalities of Navratras in a meeting with the Executive Director of the Board, RK Goyal, here today.

Goyal said that the traditional 9 day Chhat Chandi Yagya is being organized in the Holy Cave Shrine of Sri Mata Vaishno Deviji during Navratras counted beginning tomorrow in which a group of about 30 pujaris led by Prof. Vishwa Murthi Shastri participate. Revealed that the Governor is scheduled to visit the Shrine of the conclusion of Navratras. He added that the Bhawan area has been specially decorated for the occasion and special food is served in Navratras restore points of the Shrine of the Board. It is worth mentioning here, Navratri, the festival of the Hindus, has a duration of 9 days with three days each devoted to worship of Ma Durga, the Goddess of Valor, Ma Lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth and Ma Saraswati, the Goddess of Knowledge. During the nine days of Navratari, feasting and fasting take precedence over all normal daily activities among the Hindus. Evenings give rise to religious dances to the goddess Durga Maa worhip.

“Navigation” means “nine” and “night”, “Ratri” means. Therefore, means “Navratri” nine nights. There are many legends attached to the conception of Navratri like all Indian festivals. All are related to Goddess Shakti (Hindu Mother Goddess) and its various forms. One of the most famous festivals in the Hindu calendar.

In some communities people undergo rigorous fasts during this season that lasts nine days of Navratri. The festival ends on Mahanavami. On this day Kanya Puja is performed. Nine young people representing the nine forms of Goddess Durga are worshiped. Their feet are washed as a sign of respect to the Goddess and then they are offered new clothes as gifts by the worshiper.
